The return of a legendary spectacle promises to push the boundaries of live entertainment. Strut & Fret, renowned creators of immersive theatrical experiences, are gearing up to present LIMBO The Return at The Grand Electric, opening 22 May 2024.
This new headline show is a fusion of circus, cabaret, acrobatics, and heart-pounding live music, crafted by the genius of New York's Jank master, Sxip Shirey. Transporting audiences to a realm between heaven and hell, LIMBO The Return boasts an international cast of world-leading circus performers and musicians, delivering a jaw-dropping, gravity-defying spectacle that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Having already mesmerised crowds in Spiegeltents across Newcastle and Adelaide, this upcoming season in Sydney promises to be nothing short of exhilarating. Critics have showered the production with acclaim, with Upside Adelaide hailing it as "a whirlwind of excitement and wonder" in a five-star review, while See Do Eat Review dubbed it their "favorite show of the Fringe," praising the musical prowess of the band as "geniuses."
For Strut & Fret, the creators behind the phenomenon, LIMBO The Return marks a triumphant return to the stage where it all began over a decade ago. The original LIMBO catapulted the company onto the international stage, earning accolades from audiences and even catching the eye of pop icon Madonna (she saw it twice!). Its successor, LIMBO Unhinged, enjoyed a successful run at the Sydney Opera House before embarking on a global tour.
The anticipation surrounding LIMBO The Return follows hot on the heels of Strut & Fret's previous triumph, Blanc de Blanc Encore, which has been captivating audiences since January 2023 at The Grand Electric. Both productions bear the creative stamp of Scott Maidment, Strut & Fret's visionary Creative Director, with music as eclectic as it is electrifying, describing it as "a New Orleans brass band meets the Beastie Boys on the way through Berlin, looking for a house party."
What sets LIMBO The Return apart is not only its breathtaking performances but also its live music component. With a diverse array of instruments and a genre-defying mix of influences, the show promises a sonic journey, seamlessly intertwining with the mesmerising visuals and acrobatic feats on stage.
