NEGLECTED MUSICALS: Promises Promises at Hayes

Looking for a different kind of musical experience?  Neglected Musicals is reviving Promises, Promises, a rarely seen musical comedy based on the classic film The Apartment.

This production offers a chance to revisit the work of legendary collaborators Burt Bacharach and Hal David, whose songs include familiar favourites like "Say A Little Prayer" and "I'll Never Fall In Love Again."  The script, based on the book by Neil Simon, adds a layer of sharp wit to the story of a young man caught in a web of corporate ambition and secret affairs.

Neglected Musicals takes a unique approach to these forgotten gems.  Actors perform with scripts in hand, accompanied by a single piano, after just one day of rehearsal. This stripped-down format emphasises the power of the music and story, creating an intimate experience for the audience.  Promises, Promises joins their collection of 27 revived shows, including No Way To Treat A Lady and Girl Crazy.

Catch Promises, Promises at Hayes Theatre from November 13th to 17th. It's a chance to see a familiar story in a fresh light, and maybe even rediscover a forgotten musical favourite.
